Chronicling the Obasanjo years
Tribune, Winner, EDITORIAL WRITING, at the 17th DAME
The Tribune newspaper has over the years grown to become one of the leading newspapers in Nigeria where deep national issues are reported and discussed. The Tribune’s editorial of May 29, 2007, chronicling the eight years of Obasanjo’s rule was adjudged the best Judges commended the editorial board of the paper for its balance and pungency.

Entitled “The Obasanjo years(199-2007)”, the editorial was published to usher in the Yar'Adua's administration. In it the paper identified the major areas the Obasanjo government scored high and areas it did not fare well.

Established in November 1949 by one of Africa's foremost nationalists, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, the paper today remains the oldest privately owned newspaper outfit. Key personnel of the Tribune are Dr. Oluwole Awolowo, publisher/ vice chairman and Olusegun Olatunji , who doubles as the managing director/ editor-in-chief and acting chairman of the editorial board.
