| D.A.M.E. Extend Deadline for Entries
The closing date for submission of entries into the 17th annual edition of Diamond Awards for Media Excellence has been extended to September 13th, 2008 by the D.A.M.E. Board of Trustees. By this action, opportunities have been given to more participants to grasp any of 33 prizes in the print, broadcast, and advertising categories that will be awarded to deserving media works done in the previous year.
The prizes in journalism include: Press Reporter of the Year, Editorial Writing, Action Photography, Child- Friendly Journalist, Child-Friendly Media, Best Designed Newspaper, Editorial Cartooning, Informed Commentary, Health Reporting, HIV/AIDS, Judicial Reporting, Editor of the Year, Magazine of the Year, and Newspaper of the Year.
In addition to the above, two new categories, Agriculture Reporting and Insurance Reporting, have been included in this year’s Awards to reflect emerging needs of the Nigerian society. This brings the number of prizes in journalism category to nineteen.
Broadcasting has seven prizes with three categories each in radio. They are Drama, Presenting, and Reporting for Radio and Documentary, Drama, Reporting, and TV Programmer of the Year for Television.
The Advertising prizes are for Press Adverts, Radio Commercials and TV Commercials of the year in the Consumer Goods and Services categories.
Diamond Awards for Media Excellence has given out meritorious prizes annually to deserving media professionals/institutions, 313 prizes so far, in 16 editions since its inception. The consistency and integrity of this Award programme make it to be cherished, respected and keenly contested for.
Details of the mode of entry are contained in newspaper and magazine adverts, posters and on the website: www.dameawards.com. All entries should reach the D.A.M.E. Secretariat, No. 9, James Robertson Street, Surulere, Lagos State on or before the closing date.
