For the second consecutive year, The Guardian is winning the Child Friendly Media award. With this award, The Guardian is adjudged the publication that paid the greatest attention to issues concerning the Nigerian Child in 2005. This prize is sponsored by UNICEF and the Nigerian Guild of Editors.
The paper has over the years demonstrated its concern for children. Apart from having a weekly column for children called Junior Guardian, it has always lent its voice to issues affecting the Nigerian child. For the record, the paper was the only daily that published an editorial during last year’s children’s day celebration, on 27th of May.
