| DAME NAMES WINNERS
Christopher Kolade, Ted Mukoro and Segun Olusola were present to receive their lifetime awards at the 17th presentation of the Diamond Awards for Media Excellence held Sunday, November 30 at the Sheraton Hotels and Towers, Ikeja.
They bring to six the number of lifetime achievement recipients under D. A. M. E. Last year, the trio of late Dr. Babatunde Jose, Hadj. Alade Odunewu and Mr. Sam Amuka-Pemu were named the pioneer winners. The lifetime award is the sole prerogative of the DAME trustees, who do not invite or receive nominations for it. It is bestowed on individuals who have contributed significantly to the development of an aspect of the public communications industry.
28 other winners were named in various categories of the 17th edition of the award. They include: The Sun newspapers, named the Newspaper of the year, TELL magazine, the Magazine of the year, TELL’s Ayo Akinkuotu, Editor of the year, Emmanuel Mayah, winner of the Health and Agricultural Reporting categories. The Nigerian Tribune won the editorial writing prize, Azu Ishiekwene, Informed commentary.
While Insight Communications took home four prizes in advertising; STB-McCann and TBWA-Concept won one each. Deji Badmus of Channels won the TV documentary prize. Voice of Nigeria won two prizes, Radio presenting and Radio drama. FRCN won the Radio Reporter of the Year.
The colourful event, which lasted three hours, attracted such guests as Chief Akin Odunsi, chairman, Rosabel Advertising, Mr. Oliver Johnson, CEO Intermark Associates, Mallam Abubakar Jijiwa, director general, Voice of Nigeria, Hon Justice M. O. Onalaja, retired justice of the Court of Appeal, Mr. Moses Ihonde, chairman of DAME, Mr. Stanley Egbochuku, Mrs. Betty Kolade, Mr. Jide Onalaja, executive director, Aviation Logistics, Mr. & Mrs. Wale Adebowale. Nine of the 16 DAME Judges were also present: Mrs. Tinu Odugbemi, Mrs. Agbeke Ogunsanwo, Messrs. Tunde Thompson, Ben Lawrence, Taiwo Obileye, Jimi Disu, Muyiwa Adetiba, Feyi Smith, and Muda Ganiyu.
The duo of Taiwo Obileye and Ms. Nene Eyo-Nsah read the citations while Mr. Olumide Ajomale was the compere. SEE FULL LIST OF WINNERS
