| DAME holds 18th presentation Sunday, December 6
Three lifetime awards and 24 prizes in journalism, broadcasting, and advertising will be given at the 18th Presentation of the annual Diamond Awards for Media Excellence (DAME) fixed for Sunday at the Oceanview Restaurant, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The lifetime awardees are Chief Anthony Enahoro, former federal information and culture commissioner, and midwife of Africa’s first television station; Alhaji Lateef Jakande, former managing director/editor-in-chief of ANN plc and one-time president of the International Press Institute; and Mallam Turi Muhammadu, former editor and managing director of the New Nigerian.
Prizes will be given in such print journalism fields as politics, health, capital market, insurance, judicial, agriculture, editorial writing, editorial cartooning, editorial integrity, editor of the year, newsmagazine and newspaper of the year. The broadcast categories include television documentary, radio reporting, presenting and radio drama, while prizes will given in press, radio and television advertising.
DAME, established to reward talent and enterprise in public communications, held its first edition on March 20, 1992 and has consistently offered an annual platform to honour excellence in the industry and give a state-of-the-media assessment.
