Daily Sun, Winner, NEWSPAPER OF THE YEAR, at the 17th DAME
 The newspaper of the Year award at the 17th DAME goes the Sun newspaper. The paper beats the Guardian and Punch to second and third places respectively.
In winning the prize, the paper garnered 17 points from seven categories. It had the maximum 3 points in three categories, namely: Agricultural Reporting, Editorial Cartooning and Health Reporting. It scored two points for coming second in Informed Commentary, Best Designed Newspaper and Press Reporter of the Year while it had 1 point each in Editorial Cartooning and HIV/AID Reporting.
Over all, the paper made great inroads in seven categories thereby making it a newspaper with spread in terms of issues and topics. It closest rival, Guardian scored 11 points.
